Get Involved at FBCER!01/18/2012

Last week Pastor Charlie preached on truth that if we want to know God in the new year we are going to have to commit to his church. You can commit to FBCER by being faithful attender in our Sunday morning worship services, by being in a small group, through serving ad giving financially. Below is a list of ways for people to serve at FBCER. Look them over, pray about them and fill out the form at the bottom of the post.

The Shepherd’s House

The Shepherd’s House provides assistance to people in our area that have basic material needs. They are open every Tuesday (except the fifth Tuesday of the month) and have shifts in the morning and evening. Volunteers normally serve once a month and they can do a variety of tasks from counseling with people to sorting through donations.

Video Tech Team

The Video Tech Team is responsible for running the computer and video in both morning worship services. A person will normally be responsible for running the computer once every month and you will only lead in the service that you normally attend. And you do not have to be a computer genius to be on this team! (training is happening Sunday at 3:30pm)

Welcome Ministry Team

Our church is a maze and the welcome ministry team is there to help new (and old) people successfully find their way around the church. We need volunteers to work the “guest services” booth once or twice a quarter as well as serve as greeters at our entrances and in our services.

Small Group Ministry

We currently have several small groups ranging from preschool to college age that need some faithful volunteers to serve and lead every week during our 9:30am small groups.

Kid’s Church

Kid’s Church needs adults that love Jesus and enjoy working with kids to come be a part of this exciting worship experience! Kid’s Church needs people to help with registration, crafts, worship, lead small groups and much more. Volunteers serve once a month during the 11am service.

Nursery Volunteers

On Sundays and Wednesdays we need people to volunteer in our nursery. Rocking babies, water coloring and playing with blocks are just a few of the things you might be doing. Nursery volunteers normally work once a month.

Wednesday Morning Breakfast

Every Wednesday, while school is in session, our church serves breakfast to the 8th-12th graders of El Reno. We normally begin cooking around 6:30am and head home at around 9:00am. We need people to help serve, to help cook, to help with dishes or even help lead a team. A breakfast volunteer normally works once a month.

Wednesday Nights @ FBCER

Wednesday night is a big night of ministry and outreach for FBCER. We need people to work in the nursery, with our First Kids, with our Middle School and High School students (REFUGE), and help in the kitchen with our meal. Volunteer work load and schedule vary by position.

Set-Up Team

We need a team of people to help setup the church at various times throughout the year. Volunteers on this team will serve when needs arise and as they are available.

Worship Team

Do you love to sing, play the guitar, bang on the drums, etc? The worship team might be for you. Our Worship choir practices every Wed at 7:05pm and is open to anyone. Worship band members must audition.

100 Days of Scripture01/11/2012

Knowing God through studying and memorizing His word

Our goal at FBCER in 2012 is to know God in ways that we have never known Him before.  We want to move from the shallows into the depths of experiencing God and being found in Him.  In order to do that, we know we must experience the living God through His living word.  This week the members of FBCER have committed to spending 100 days in the word of God.

We are doing so by taking place in the E100 challenge where for the next 20 weeks (5 days a week for 20 weeks = 100 days) where we will read with our families an assigned passage of scripture that give us a picture of the entire Bible.  If you want to join with us you can pick up a card with the assigned scriptures at the church or you can find this plan on the “YouVersion” Bible app for your smart phone.

Along with spending 100 days in the Scriptures, we are challening our church to memorize a verse of scripture each week.  The scripture will be taken from a passage you will read that week and will be available on the church website, facebook page, and in the weekly worship guide.

We hope that you will journey with us in our pursuit of knowing God and that you will make His word a priority as you do.

“Know God in the New Year” sermon series in the month of January01/03/2012

One of the things we want in the people of FBCER is that we would be people of spiritual depth.  That we would not merely know about God, but that we would truly experience Him through Jesus Christ.  In our new sermon series in the month of January, we will not only look at what it means to know God, but will also be giving you solid yet practical ways on how you can know God more and deeper in the new year.

Join us every week as we are challenged to “Know God in the New Year”.
