Have you been baptized?
July 7, 2013
One of the most beautiful pictures that Christ has left His church with is Baptism. The symbolic picture of a person who has been born again, identifying themselves with Christ, while professing their death to the old life and being raised to walk in a new life, is not only meaningful to the one being baptized, but also encouraging to the church who gets to witness it.
Over the last 5 years here at FBCER, we have witnessed many who have taken this step of obedience and proclamation of their faith in Christ Jesus for salvation. Regardless of how many times you witness this act, it never gets old. We believe that baptism is an important part of your walk with God, not because it brings about salvation, only faith in Christ can do that, but because of what it means and symbolizes.
On the Sunday mornings of July 28th and August 4th at 9:45am, we will be offering a baptism class for those in our church who are candidates for baptism or for those who are interested in what baptism is and means. We encourage anyone who is interested to join us. You only need to attend one of the classes as they will both be the same. The night of August 4th, we will meet together at the pool of Bill and Jackie Reeves to have an outdoor baptism celebration service. If you plan on being baptized at this service you need to attend one of our classes prior to that evening.
If you are a believer who is yet to be baptized let me strongly encourage you to take this opportunity. If you have any questions, you can contact the church office. To the rest of the body, let me strongly encourage you to attend, to celebrate, and be encouraged with those who are making this outward declaration.
