“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners…” – 1 Timothy 1:15

The heart of God, displayed perfectly in Jesus, is to save sinners. It is an astonishing reality that the God of heaven, who is perfect and righteous, willingly sent his perfect son to bring redemption to a rebellious people, because he loved us. These truths are at the heart of the gospel.

As God’s people, we have been entrusted with this glorious message that we might proclaim to the world the hope of Christ that they too may trust in Him to the glory of the Father. The church is God’s plan for reaching the lost world. If you are a believer, you make up the church. If you make up part of the body of Christ you have a command and privilege from God to take this message to the world. Simply put, disciples are to make disciples – Matthew 28:19-20.

Since we believe that Scripture is authoritative, it demands of us that we be serious about evangelism. We have a community made up of people that need to hear that God is calling them to be reconciled to him through Jesus – 2 Corinthians 5:14-21. This fall, we will be participating in a statewide initiative to be intentional about evangelism called the Connect 1 Evangelism Campaign. C1graphicWhiteTogether we are going to work together to do everything we can to impact lostness in our state and community.

Let me say this lovingly. We are not asking you to be a part of evangelism, we are expecting it from you. This isn’t based on our authority but on God’s authority revealed in Scripture. Here are some things you can do to better prepare yourself for this initiative.

  1. Be a part of a small group for the month of September where a clear understanding of the gospel will be taught that you might be better equipped to share it with others.
  2. Commit now to praying for people you know who need Jesus. If you don’t know any lost people, ask God to open your eyes to those around you who need Him.
  3. Join us for a personal evangelism training dinner on the evening of October 2nd.
  4. Commit to sharing the gospel with at least one person during our campaign.

Our goal is not to make presenting the gospel formulaic, but to set a tone that says evangelism is important and an expected part of our following of Christ. Our hope is to see people share in the hope that we have in Jesus. Join us. No excuses. Let’s get serious about proclaiming the gospel to the world.

For His glory and your joy,

Pastor Charlie
