Let’s Get After It
July 28, 2016
Summer break is almost over. I know you hate to hear that. Well, kids hate to hear it, parents are rejoicing. But anyway, it is coming to an end quick. Everyone is having their last minute vacations and trips, it will be time to buy school supplies soon, and don’t forget clothes for school. It is hard to believe how fast a summer break can go by.
I for one enjoy it when the summer comes to an end because it allows us to get back to a sense of normalcy. It allows us to get back to a routine, it allows us to get back to work. As all of our ministries pick up in the next few weeks I want to challenge us to get after it! It is time for us to get excited about the ministry and work that God has called us to do. I want to challenge you to do a couple of things.
1.Get committed. Make meeting with the body an important part of your week. Don’t make it a place you go when you don’t have anything else to do. Make it something that you are committed to. Invest your life in being with God’s people. Make missing the exception rather than the norm. Commit to serving and using your gifts in the body. Commit to building up your brothers and sisters while being built up yourself. Commit to making God and his church a priority. Commit to Scripture and spiritual growth.
- Get connected. How many relationships do you have within the church? How many ways have you tried to connect with others? My hope is that you would be intentional about connecting with other believers. We all need discipleship relationships in our life. I want to challenge you to get connected regularly with a small group of believers now. Don’t wait, don’t put it off. Decide now to get connected with a group of believers that you can grow with and journey with in your faith.
It is time for all of us to get after it. Summer break is over, and truthfully speaking our faith is never on break anyway. I pray that you will get serious about getting committed and connected!
For His glory and your joy,
Pastor Charlie
