Summer’s Almost Here…
May 5, 2017
May is here! Can you believe it? School is almost out and summer break is just around the corner. Teachers and kids are excited about a brief vacation, while parents are trying to make their summer plans. If your summer is anything like mine, it is already packed with busyness. As you put the finishing touches on your summer plans, let me give you a few things you need to make sure you put on your schedule for your kids.
For the Kids
Kids Camp at Falls Creek – May 31 – June 3
Students who have completed the 4th grade through 6th grade will spend several days at Falls Creek Conference center in the Arbuckle Mts. at a camp focused on Christ that is specifically geared for their age group. This is not just a few days of fun but a key time for your student to develop spiritually as they are challenged from God’s word.
VBS @ FBCER – June 26 – 30
No summer is complete without Vacation Bible School. VBS is a week of fun and interactive learning about God and his word for kids who have completed Pre-K – 6th grade. The theme this year is Galactic Starveyors. Kids will be challenged to focus their telescopes on the marvels painted in the sky by their Creator and will discover the wonder among all wonders–that the God who created everything wants a personal relationship with them. Check out www.fbcelreno.com/vbs17 for more info.
For Students
Mission Santa Cruz – June 9 – 15
A group of 25 students and adults will head to Santa Cruz, CA, where we will serve alongside our partner church plant in ministering to the people of Santa Cruz. While registration is already closed for this opportunity but prayer is of the utmost importance. For those interested, we will be taking more of these trips in the future.
Falls Creek Summer Camp
Every year thousands of students head to the Arbuckle Mountains to the world’s largest Christian youth camp know as Falls Creek. There they will be challenged all week long to focus on Christ, his word, and his plan for their lives. We will go two weeks, one for 7th-9th graders and one for 10th-12th graders. The dates for Junior High are July 10-15 and High School are July 17-22.
As you can tell, this summer will be full, but these events are great opportunities for your kids and students to grow in faith this summer.
For His glory and your joy,
Pastor Charlie
