What’s Your Ask?
January 1, 2020
I was recently reading an article on prayer, where the author posed this question: “If God were to answer today the top three things you have been praying for, would it change anything?” I must admit that this question has haunted me. It has haunted me, because it has caused me to wonder if I am praying big enough and specific enough. Am I truly petitioning God to do big and mighty things? What am I asking God to really do?
I think we can all be guilty of praying the same general prayers repeatedly, often with little thought as to what we are truly asking. God guide us. God bless us. God lead us. But what are we truly asking? This year, I want to challenge you to join me in really asking God to do big things. I want us to ask God specific things with a kingdom heart and mindset. I want us to ask persistently and expectantly, believing He can and will hear the prayers of His people. I want us to pray, believing it will change things. I want us to ask, taking the words of Jesus in John 14:14 to heart, “If you ask anything in my name, I will do it.” What are you truly asking of God? I think we may be surprised at what God will do if His people would but ask.
